Repeat Prescriptions

Patients who have regular medication may request a further month’s treatment by:

  • Online via the link at the top of this page
  • Depositing your request at the dispensary
  • Posting a letter with your repeat prescription request
  • Communicating with the dispensers in person
  • Emailing the dispensary:

Please use the computer counterfoil to indicate your requirements and ONLY order the items you require.

Please allow 48 working hours for prescription only and 3 working days for dispensed items.

If you have difficulty attending the surgery to collect your paper prescription, we will post it to you if we have your stamped addressed envelope.

We have a dispensary on the premises, which is open from 9am til 12 noon and 2.30pm to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and on Fridays 9am til 12 noon only.

Patients who live within the Practice area and who live more than 1.6 km or 1 mile from a commercial pharmacy are allowed to have their prescriptions dispensed at the surgery.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.35
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £108.10
  • 3-month PPC: £30.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

  • Telephone advice and order line 0845 850 0030
  • General Public - Buy or Renew a PPC On-line
